TOOT TOOT!!!

I'm so excited to be able to announce that I've had something published!!! Woo Hoo!!!

My Altered Purse Album was published in the April Edition of www.scrapbooking.com online magazine! I loved working on this album. I had taken some absolutely adorable pictures of Gracie that I wanted to scrap, but I wanted to do something extra special with them. The purse album from Kaisercraft was perfect!!!! It's so unique! Most of the papers were from Piggy Tales and the embellishments were from several different companies. I think the embellishments were the perfect finishing touches.

GCD Design Team Announced Today.....

I didn't make the GCD Design Team but I did have fun keeping up with the blog all day as they announced how many people they'd called. Monday, April 6th they are having a big party to announce the Design Team winners. They had so many talented scrapbookers apply that they increased the size of the team from 8 to 13! I can't wait to see who's on the team! They also will be announcing on Monday:
  • 4 Guest DT gals
  • 40 Spotlights
  • 21 Product Testers
So - I still have a chance to be a part of the GCD family. Keeping my fingers crossed a little bit longer!

I've been busy - but not on cleaning my room!

Sorry it's been awhile since I posted - basically because I've been working on design team call submissions. I just submitted my entry for the GCD Studios Design Team Call. I am really excited about this call, but with a total of 471 entries, I know my chances are slim to none LOL Anyway, GCD is announcing the new Design Team members tomorrow, March 31st. They have a whole day planned with prizes, etc. It sounds like a lot of fun. I hope more manufacturers follow their lead - it makes the announcement so much more exciting! Here's their official Invitation to join them for the event:

Day Two – Things have not progressed much…

Ok, so today I had big plans to get soooo much done around here but that didn’t happen. This time change threw me for a loop and at about 12:30 this afternoon I found myself asleep on the sofa. I woke up once while the dog was barking at the mail carrier – who delivered a paper order from Lifetime Moments woo hoo! But then I fell back asleep and didn’t come to again until 3:30. Once I’d had lunch and checked my emails it only left me with about 45 minutes until I had to go pick up my daughter from daycare. A very unproductive day…

I did however manage to move most of my empty storage containers from my scraproom to the family room so I could maneuver a little better. We’ll see how long those things stay there – my DH will have a canary when he sees I’m encroaching on our communal living spaces again…

Once those things were moved out I was able to reach my boxes of magazines and idea books. I put them back on the bookshelf where they belong. I also pushed the canvas bins back into their cubbies. Now that you can see part of the floor, it actually doesn’t look too bad in here….yeah, ok, that’s stretching it a bit.

I am really hoping that if I get to bed at a decent hour tonight that I will have more energy to get things done tomorrow. There’s a ton of swaps to be done, I want to spend some more time cleaning, and there are a few design team calls that I want to do. Where does the time go????

Day One: Sifting Through the Wreckage.

We are at the doorway to my scraproom. That is where we stop. Why? Because there is so much stuff that we cannot proceed further. So today, we begin sifting through the wreckage. Yes, this is an actual, real life photo of my scrapbook room, it has not been photo-shopped in any way. This is how I live. As long as there is room for me to hop from one space to the other, then I can still function in here. However, I fear the day that I may actually break my ankle in here and when the medics come they will need to pull the roof off the house and airlift me out of here.

Purge and Sort:

Begin by sorting things into categories: Magazines and Idea Books, Photos, Stamps and Inks, Patterned Paper, Cardstock, Scraps, Embellishments, Trims, Tools, etc. These categories will be pared down again into smaller groups once the initial sort is complete. You may actually be surprised to know that I had already organized a lot of this stuff during prior purge and sort sessions.

If, while sorting, you come across something and ask yourself, “Why the heck did I buy this hideous thing?”. This is where “purge” comes into play. Now, I’m not suggesting that you throw anything out, but rather send it along it’s merry way to somewhere else, such as a school, senior center, scout troop or a beginner scrapper. Now, if it’s really really hideous, or in very poor condition, then it’s time to say your peace, forgive yourself, and send it to it’s final resting place. Nothing feels better than a good purging – as my husband would say……but I digress…

It's Time for a Little "Spring Cleaning" or Time to Sweep the Room for Dead Flying Squirrels...

Spring is just around the corner and what better time than any to get your scrapbooking supplies organized. Ok, so I know, most of you who know me are sitting there completely dumbfounded that I am the person who is spearheading this campaign. After all, I am the world’s most disorganized person and many of you are witness to that from the pics of my scrapbook room that I have posted over the years. And yet, I still manage to find everything I need! But really, this time I think I’m really going to get organized! So join me on my journey to create a Scrapbooking Utopia (and let’s see how long I can keep my room looking good after I get it cleaned out!).

Over the years, in my quest to obtain scrapbook organization perfection, I have purchased tons of organizers and tried many methods. Many have worked, others failed miserably and still others are still sitting in their bags and boxes waiting for their chance to show me their potential. I will share with you my successes and failures and I encourage you to share yours with us.

In preparing for my journey, I have Googled a myriad of websites with tips on how to get organized. I have found a ton of very useful information on blogs, forums and You Tube.

Since I’m currently unemployed, my main goal is to do this “on the cheap”. The Goodwill, Ikea, Costco, tag sales and the Dollar Stores have become my best friend. And let’s not forget the Target Dollar Spot – cha ching!!!!! I’ve found some awesome stuff there!

So let us go forth now and begin our journey. Bring a flashlight and good shoes – you never know what you may step on – many of you may remember the dead flying squirrel story…..the good news is that it doesn’t smell funky around here so there’s a good chance that this time I won’t find anything dead behind a bookcase. I’ll let you know if that changes.

It's Been Awhile......

Ok, so it's been over a week since my last post. I've been a bit crazed. I found out today that I didn't make the Croppin Paradise Team, so it's time to move on and see what else is out there for me.

In the meantime, I've decided to take on the challenge of cleaning out my scraproom and getting it organized. Um...yeah... So, stay tuned, because I'm going to try to post daily about my progress and I'm going to share some ideas on how to affordably organize your supplies.
